After cycle time, improving system utilization usually offers the second greatest potential. When producing complex castings, the mold often causes the largest proportion of all production stoppages. Schaufler Tooling has therefore developed numerous solutions to minimize downtimes.

Setting up / changing form

• Quick change of slide units on the casting machine; <10 minutes from shot to shot are possible,
• Patented quick change of mold inserts with ejector unit for compact castings such as shock towers, developed by Schaufler Tooling,

Overmolding / dimensional deviations

• Homogeneous mold surface temperatures
• Patented splash stop to prevent spangles, developed by Schaufler Tooling,
• Mold centering and slide locking, developed by Schaufler Tooling and now used in more than 300 molds.

Repairs in the casting machine

• Quickly changeable cores and partial inserts.
• Tungsten based coatings
• Leak-free plugs for cooling holes: Guaranteed throughout the life of the mold.
• Pipe-in-pipe solution for branch cooling to reduce leakage points
• Corrosion-free water (water treatment by Paulysan® or Pritalis®)
